Science - Teacher: Mrs. Poole
Learning science is one of the most fun thing we can do during class. At my old school (Yokomi Elementary), we had science, but we didn't do hands-on experiments like we are going to do this year. We are already working with heavy-duty microscopes witch is pretty cool. I've never even got to touch one before.
I can't wait to do experiments! Right now we are working with microscopes. We are looking at different kinds of cells. Learning all the names of the parts of the cell is the most difficult part. There is just about 11 different parts stuffed into a microscopic size. It's hard to imagine how small the parts must be. There is the cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, cloroplast, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, lysosomes, ribosomes, and vacuole. An animal cell doesn't have a cell wall, plastids or cloroplast, and a plant cell sometimes has flagella or lysosomes. It is rare if a plant cell has cilia.

Living Things This Glogster poster is about the characteristics of living things. This poster is true for all living things including plants and animals. The videos are all about the different topics that are listed above. I tried to include the most percise information I could come up with. The videos won't work because it is a picture from the actual screen that won't incluse links to certain videos. Hopefully, the paragraphs make enough since so you can get an idea of what it all means.

Consequences of Intercourse as a Young Adult
There are numerous reasons why having intercourse as a young adult, specifically as a teenager, is not a very good idea at all. If you become a mother/father of a child, things get very complicated. Everything you have worked for your entire life, all your ideas and dreams of being successful in a certain job field, well, kiss those goodbye. You need to consider all the effects it will have in your life. You’ll have to drop out of school, ruining your chances of getting your dream job. If you can’t get a good job, what happens when you need to buy the necessities for your child? Where would you get the money? Most likely, your parents will be furious with you. They probably won’t help you out with taking care of a baby. What if the mother and the father of the baby seperate? That would make it even harder. People say it is the greatest joy to have a child. I have been around a few births of my brother and sister, and I saw how happy there were when they saw the little human that they carried for 9 months, finally in their arms, BUT THEY ARE ADULTS!! You know teens do really irresponsible and stupid stuff. Sex, drugs, and alcohol are the most common. You have to think about your child’s life. If they don’t grow up in a stable place, they will have problems when they become adolescents, leading them into their adult lives, making things especially hard.
I heard rumors going around the school that the nearby high school offers a daycare service for children of parents still in school. In a way, that was a smart move on behalf of the school. It enables the young parent to stay in school, while ensuring their child is in a safe place. Now, I’m not saying that teen pregnancy is okay, but at least they get an opportunity to stay in school to become successful so they can support the lives of their children. What about diapers? Clothes? Food? How will you get that? Maybe a small job in your freetime. Fast food, gas station, maybe? Teen pregnancy is a terrible thing that you’ll regret for the rest of your life. All the vitamins you have to take to make sure the baby is healthy, all the pain of the baby moving around, it all causes stress. My best friend committed suicide just about a month ago. She cut her wrist too deep and hit an artery. She bled to death. When preparing her body for her burial, they found out she was two months pregnant. The original idea is she was being harshly bullied, which she was, but I think the fear of telling her parents was the main contribution of her taking her life.
There are ways to aid prevention of pregnancy, but none are guaranteed to protect against pregnancy. Men can use condoms, and women can use birth control. The only way that has a greater chance of protection from pregnancy, still not guaranteed 100% protection, is for a women to get her tubes tied, meaning tying the oviducts, and therefore, preventing a woman from ovulating. In one documentary on a show called I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant, a woman had had her tubes tied, but still had a baby. She thought because her tubes were tied, there was no way she could get pregnant, but somehow her tubed reconnected, letting the sperm and egg meet. A man can get a vasectomy, meaning they cut the vas deferens to prevent the sperm to mix with the semen. The man will still ejaculate, but no sperm will be produced. This is also not fully protective. The only way to prevent pregnancy is to just not have sex. Simple as that.
There are a few options if you are positive you cannot care for a baby. The only one I agree with is adoption. This lets the child live in a protected home with a family. Even if they aren’t biologically related, at least they have a family that loves, cares, provides, and feeds them. Then again, there is abortion. I hate the idea of abortion. You are killing a human that hasn’t even gotten a chance to live yet. It’s murder! Yes, a murder to anyone is tragic, but when it comes down to it, aborting a baby, a helpless baby that didn’t ask to be born, and you kill it. Isn’t that wrong?? Under some circumstances may the growing and birth be fatal to the mother, but this is only less than 1% of abortions that take place. Believe it or not, abortion is actually a lot more dangerous than childbirth. If the baby is more than eight weeks old, they can feel physical pain during the abortion. It is a fact that everyday, so many abortions take place that it actually takes more lives than the 9/11 attacks. Think about the pain you will put this baby through before you abort the baby, even more so, before you have sex.
